The Recipe How-To

Step 1: Soaking the Cashews

Take 1 ½ cups of raw cashews and soak them overnight or for at least 6 hours in water. Rinse them well before using.

Step 2: Making the Ice Cream Base

In a blender, combine the soaked cashews, 1 can (14 oz) of full-fat coconut milk, 1/2 cup of maple syrup, 2 tsp of instant coffee (optional), and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer instructions. This should take around 20-25 minutes to reach a creamy consistency. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, freeze the mixture for a few hours, stirring every half an hour to break up any ice crystals that form.

If you want to jazz up your coffee ice cream, add in some mix-ins such as bittersweet chocolate chips, a swirl of vegan chocolate fudge sauce, or a dash of cinnamon.

Step 5: Freezing and Serving

Substitutions and Variations

There are a variety of substitutions and variations you can make to this Vegan Coffee Ice Cream Recipe to fit your preferences and dietary needs.

For a more chocolatey flavor, try adding in some bittersweet chocolate chips during the churning process. You can also experiment with different types of non-dairy milk, like almond milk or cashew milk, instead of coconut milk.

To create a mocha flavor, add 1/3 cup of espresso with the instant coffee. This will give your ice cream a rich, creamy texture with a buzz-buzz kick.

For those who prefer a sweeter taste, try incorporating pitted dates or sugar-free maple syrup as an alternative to traditional maple syrup. You can also swap out the vanilla extract for almond extract or peppermint extract depending on your preference.

If you want a more health-conscious option, try making this recipe with frozen bananas instead of ice cream for a nice cream twist. Additionally, you can also create vegan coffee ice cream bars by layering with vegan chocolate ice cream of your choice!

Overall, this recipe is very adaptable based on individual dietary needs and as such it has endless possibilities to be varied. Consider trying multiple variations, as it is the best way to find what suits your personal taste preferences.

Serving and Pairing

When it comes to serving and pairing this vegan coffee ice cream, the options are as limitless as the taste of coffee itself. For a classic combination, serve it atop a warm piece of apple pie or crumble some homemade granola for a crunchy texture. Drizzle some bittersweet chocolate chips over the ice cream for an indulgent twist on a classic mocha flavor.

Looking for a lighter option? Dress up your coconut ice cream by adding fresh berries or pomegranate seeds. Enjoying a scoops of coffee ice cream with sliced fresh fruit can add some texture and color to your treat, providing a balanced dessert that’s both satisfying and nourishing.

If you’re up for something more unique or creative, try pairing this vegan coffee ice cream of yours with other desserts. Coffee-flavored macarons or tiramisu serve as great pairings or you could even be experimental and create a s’mores dip to bring in the full range of sweet and savory flavors, alternating between dipping graham crackers and roasted marshmallows into the decadent scoop of coconut ice cream.

This vegan coffee ice cream takes the place of traditional dairy-based versions perfectly! It is so versatile that you can add any nutty crunches, chocolates, fruit mix-ins or even caramel-syrup without altering its unique taste significantly. Be understated, yet innovative with textures or indulge in luxury toppings for the ultimate vegan creamy dessert that everyone will schvitz over!

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

If you plan on making this vegan coffee ice cream in advance for a party or you simply want to be prepared, there are some things you should keep in mind. Once the ice cream mixture is made and churned, it can be stored in an airtight container and stored in your freezer for up to a week. This creamy delight hardens slightly once frozen but retains its smoothness even after being stored.

Before enjoying the ice cream that has been sitting in the freezer, let it defrost for around 15 minutes in the refrigerator or at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes. This will help soften it up enough so that it is easy to scoop and serve.

Additionally, if you are entertaining guests and need to have enough servings of ice cream prepared ahead of time, consider churning multiple batches and storing them separately in your freezer until ready to serve. Layering these batches using different flavors will make a visually appealing presentation when plated together.

When reheating any leftover coffee ice cream, bear in mind that microwaving the dish can create a grainy texture on account of the crystals that form as the liquid heats up. To avoid this unwanted graininess, mashing the ice cream with a fork until softened or placing it under cold running water for roughly 5 minutes should help to restore its rich creamy texture.

Overall, if handled properly vegan coffee ice cream will maintain its exceptional taste and consistency even after being stored – making it an ideal make-ahead dessert option perfect for casual events and high-end dinner parties alike.

Tips for Perfect Results

Coffee lovers, are you ready to dive into the world of creamy, rich and decadent vegan coffee ice cream? From the makers of Haagen-Dazs Coffee Ice Cream comes a dairy-free, plant-based version that is just as delectable as its counterpart. Making dairy-free desserts can be tricky, but not to worry! Here are some tips to ensure your vegan coffee ice cream comes out perfect every time.

1. Use full-fat coconut milk. Coconut milk is key for achieving a creamy texture in vegan ice cream. Make sure you use full-fat coconut milk and not reduced fat or coconut milk from a carton. This will help to create a smooth and velvety texture.

2. Soak cashews in advance. If your recipe calls for cashews, make sure to soak them in advance. Soaking cashews overnight or for a few hours will help them blend easier, which will create a smoother texture in your ice cream.

3. Opt for maple syrup as your sweetener. Maple syrup gives ice cream a natural sweetness without an overpowering flavor. It also pairs well with coffee and won’t mask the flavor of the other ingredients.

4. Add vanilla extract for depth of flavor. Vanilla is a complimentary flavor to coffee and adds extra depth to your ice cream. Don’t be afraid to add more than 1 teaspoon for an even richer taste!

5. Get creative with mix-ins. Jazz up your coffee ice cream by adding bittersweet chocolate chips or creating a mocha swirl with cocoa powder and espresso.

6. Use frozen bananas or almond milk as substitutes. If you don’t have coconut milk on hand, don’t fret! Frozen bananas or almond milk make great substitutes for this recipe.

7. Properly store your ice cream before serving. Once your ice cream has finished churning, store it in an air-tight container in the back of your freezer, where it’s coldest, until you’re ready to serve it.

By following these tips and making slight modifications according to personal preference, you can create an amazing homemade vegan coffee ice cream fit for any dessert occasion!

Bottom Line

In conclusion, this vegan coffee ice cream recipe is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth and an appreciation for rich, creamy treats. Not only is it completely dairy-free, but it’s also incredibly versatile, with variations that allow you to tailor it to your taste preferences. The combination of coconut milk, raw cashews and maple syrup creates a delectable base that will have you coming back for more.

With the addition of instant coffee and bittersweet chocolate chips, this recipe delivers a buzz-worthy flavor that will truly satisfy your taste buds. Whether you are enjoying it alone or as part of an elaborate dessert bar, this coffee ice cream is sure to be a hit.
